Pull your Xterra to an area where you can drive straight ahead without turning the wheel for a couple hundred feet. Have the wheel straight. Turn off engine. Restart engine and pull straight ahead in drive. Light should go off in a couple hundred feet. The book is not too clear on this.

I am currently dealing with this for the second time. this is what I am doing to engage the 4WD for snowy conditions driving this winter. 1. with the truck turned off. put switch in 4WD hi mode. 2. in the engin compartment remove the ABS 10 Apm fuse from IDPM. 3.Disconnect the negative battery cable.
