Noise does not happen on startups during the day and the engine runs fine. Just the annoynig about 2 second long scratch noise at first start in the morning.New Honda Accord 2014 starter failed in 4 years at 29000 miles. The dealer charged me $130 just to check the issue and then $800 to fix in parts and labor. Honda will not cover it even though its a faulty part. I believe there is a class action lawsuit already, check the web. Very disappointment. Never buying a Honda again.

I have brought it to the dealership and they have since consulted with the head office engineers and they can't figure out what the issue is. Here are the symptoms:

I have a 2014 Honda Accord. In the past several months the car has begun to have issues starting. I turn the key in the ignition and it will not start. No sound, nothing. However, the lights, etc work. I then turn the key off and try again and this time the car starts. Sometimes it takes 5-6 tries before the car starts, but, it always starts.I've tried to replicate the problem by pressing the brake or clutch in different sequences, radio on/off, lights, etc., but there's no pattern. Cold start in the morning, all day driving, driving 5 miles or 50, it doesn't matter, it still does it. It's very random. Fuel pump spins every time and related fuses are okay.
